We are a small Berkeley, California architecture firm with a diverse portfolio that includes single- and multi-family residential design, retail and commercial interiors, and institutional projects. We emphasize careful understanding of site and context, comprehensive attention to sustainability and green design, as well as knowledge of and respect for construction methods and trades. We strive to make works of functional beauty which express the unique character of our clients and their programs.
Formed in 1995, Geoffrey Holton and Associates (GHA) was built on a foundation of over ten years of prior experience in the field of architecture. The principal, Geoffrey Holton, received his Master’s degree in 1989 from U.C. Berkeley and has practiced architecture since 1984, including six years as a project manager and project architect with award-winning Bay Area firms. In addition, Geoff has taught extensively at U.C Berkeley, California College of the Arts and Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia, Canada.
Often the firm provides services that enhance and complement the architect's standard scope of work. These services have ranged from site analysis and programming to design and fabrication of custom furniture and fixturing. We take pride in providing thorough, thoughtful service, and delivering high-quality, innovative work within time and budget constraints.
